What does Mariée mean?
Mariée simply means bride in French.  It is pronounced “may-ree-ay”, not Marie.

Do you ever charge for an appointment?
We never charge for an appointment.

When should I start shopping for my gown?
Most brides start shopping one year before their wedding date.

How long does it take to make a gown?
Mariée’s wedding gowns are hand made by artisans skilled in the couture tradition, so they take about 16 weeks to arrive from the designer’s atelier.  On the other hand, a dress could also show up two weeks after it is ordered.  In order to avoid a rush fee, allow at least 6 months before your wedding to purchase your gown to allow for alterations as well as any unforeseen bumps in the road.  That being said, all designers offer a rush order for a fee or we could sell a floor sample if need be.

What should I bring to my appointment?
It is advisable to bring a strapless bra, hosiery, and evening shoes.  Also, allow time for your appointment.  Please don’t come from the gym or between other appointments.  You will feel too rushed to make any decisions.  You must wear your final shoes, hosiery, and bra to your alterations appointment.  If these are not brought, we have Nina shoes available at the gallery.

Who should I bring to my appointment?
We advise that you bring along a maximum of two guests.  Usually this is your mother and best friend.  Frequently, a bride loves a dress, but feels that her mother or friend should see it first and we cannot guarantee that it will still be here.  We also advise that children under 12 have other accommodations made.  They typically grow restless during the long appointment.

Why don’t you carry a wide variety of sizes?
Most bridal stores carry gowns that are churned out in overseas factories.  Those “designers” require the stores to carry a very large number of their dresses and in many different sizes.  Mariée is a high-end salon where gowns are hand made by the designer’s assistants in their atelier.  As is the case in all high-end salons, a size 10 or 8 is the most common sample size.  When a dress is chosen, we then take your measurements and the designer cuts the gown to your measurements.  It is a true couture experience.

Can gowns be re-designed to accommodate ethnic and
religious weddings?

All of our designers are happy to accommodate any re-designs that are necessary.  Our alterations expert is also highly skilled at completely re-designing a dress to accommodate a bride’s needs.  Strapless dresses can easily have sleeves added.

Can I take a picture of myself in the dresses?
Yes!  Nobody else in The Valley carries a single one of our dresses so we have nothing to lose.  Go ahead a take pictures.

Do you carry evening wear?
Mariée carries Vera Wang maids, which are beautiful evening gowns as well as Siri Special Occasions.  Mariée will be expanding its assortment of evening wear.  Most of our designers also offer very red-carpet-ready evening collections at the same price point as the bridal collections.

How and when do I pay for my gown?
When you decide on a gown, a 50% non-refundable deposit is made.  This is non-refundable because the fabric is literally cut when we place the order with the designer.  The remainder of the balance is due 10 days after we call and let you know that the gown has arrived in the gallery, or upon the first alterations, whichever comes first.  Alterations cannot occur on a gown until the gown is paid for in full.  If an “off the rack” gown is purchased, it must be paid in full at the time purchase.
